Opal Agent Directory
CoreOpal
The Agent Directory contains pre-built agents that Optimizely maintains and updates. These agents are available in every Opal instance and handle common tasks across content creation, SEO, experimentation, and analytics. You install them from the Agents > Agent Directory tab in the Opal app.
How to install a directory agent
Section titled “How to install a directory agent”- Navigate to Opal > Agents > Agent Directory
- Browse or search for the agent you need
- Click the agent tile to view its description and tools
- Click Install to add it to your organization
- The agent appears in your Your Agents tab, ready to use
Invoke any installed agent in Opal Chat by typing @agent_id or using the Mention Agent button.
Strategy and planning

Agent details
Section titled “Agent details”Each directory agent includes:
- Description explaining the business problem it solves and the value it delivers
- Tools it uses to complete tasks (system tools, connector tools, or custom tools)
- Variables it accepts as input (URLs, dates, product IDs, etc.)
- Prompt template defining its behavior and output format
After installation, you can view the full agent configuration in Agents > Your Agents. Click any agent to see its prompt template, tools, variables, and execution history.
Customization after installation
Section titled “Customization after installation”Installed directory agents serve as starting points. You can:
- Adjust the prompt template to match your organization’s terminology
- Add or remove tools based on your connected product instances
- Modify input variables for your specific workflows
- Add preferred output examples to improve quality scoring
When Optimizely releases agent updates, you see a notification badge in the Agent Directory. You can choose to update or keep your customized version.
