Why use Opal Chat in the CMS

Opal Chat brings AI assistance directly into the CMS editor so you can generate drafts, rewrite paragraphs, adjust tone, and create images without leaving your workflow. Because Opal understands your content context, it produces suggestions that fit your page structure and brand voice.
Access Opal Chat from the editor
Section titled βAccess Opal Chat from the editorβ- Open any page or block in the CMS editor.
- Click the Opal icon in the editor toolbar. It appears as a chat bubble icon.
- The Opal Chat panel opens on the right side of the editor.
- Verify you see a text input field and the Opal branding. If the icon does not appear, ask your administrator to enable Opal for your user role.
Generate text content
Section titled βGenerate text contentβ- Open Opal Chat from the editor toolbar.
- Type a prompt describing the content you need. For example: βWrite a 150-word introduction for a product page about running shoes.β
- Press Enter or click Send.
- Review the generated text in the chat panel.
- Click Insert to place the text into the active content field, or click Copy to paste it manually.
- Edit the inserted text to match your brand voice and add specific details that only you know.
Write effective prompts for CMS content
Section titled βWrite effective prompts for CMS contentβThe quality of Opalβs output depends on the quality of your prompt. Follow these guidelines to get better results.
Be specific about format and length
Section titled βBe specific about format and lengthβInstead of βWrite about our product,β try βWrite a 100-word paragraph explaining the three main benefits of our cloud hosting product. Use a professional but approachable tone.β
Provide context
Section titled βProvide contextβTell Opal what the content is for. For example: βThis is the hero section of a landing page targeting small business owners who are evaluating CMS platforms for the first time.β
Request a specific structure
Section titled βRequest a specific structureβAsk for the format you need: βWrite three bullet points, each starting with an action verb, summarizing the key features of our analytics dashboard.β
Iterate and refine
Section titled βIterate and refineβIf the first result is not quite right, follow up with refinement prompts:

Generate images in content
Section titled βGenerate images in contentβOpal Chat can create images that you insert directly into your pages.
- Open Opal Chat from the editor toolbar.
- Type an image generation prompt. For example: βGenerate a hero banner image showing a modern office workspace with warm lighting, 16:9 aspect ratio.β
- Wait for Opal to generate the image. This typically takes 10-15 seconds.
- Review the generated image in the chat panel.
- Click Insert into Media Library to save the image and insert it into the active image field.
- Add alt text and a title to the image in the properties panel.
Tips for better image prompts
Section titled βTips for better image promptsβ- Specify the aspect ratio (16:9, 1:1, 4:3) to match your layout requirements.
- Describe the style you want: βflat illustration,β βphotorealistic,β βminimalist.β
- Include color preferences if they need to match your brand palette.
- Avoid requesting images with text in them. AI-generated text in images is often inaccurate.
Understand Opal Chat limitations
Section titled βUnderstand Opal Chat limitationsβKeep these limitations in mind when using Opal Chat for content creation.
- Accuracy: Opal generates plausible text, but it may include incorrect facts. Always verify claims, statistics, and technical details before publishing.
- Brand voice: Opal approximates your tone but does not perfectly replicate brand guidelines. Review and adjust all generated content.
- Sensitive content: Opal has built-in content safety filters. It may decline to generate certain types of content.
- Image quality: Generated images work well for placeholders and general illustrations. For product photos or brand-specific imagery, use your own photography.
- Content ownership: Content generated by Opal is owned by your organization. You can use, modify, and publish it without attribution.
- Context window: Opal Chat within the CMS editor works with the content of the current page. It does not have access to your entire site content.
