Use Opal in Slack, Copilot, and Gemini
Why use Opal outside the Opal app
Section titled “Why use Opal outside the Opal app”Your team already lives in Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Google Workspace. Switching to the Opal app for every AI request adds friction. Platform integrations bring Opal’s full capabilities into the tools your team already uses, so you can manage campaigns, analyze experiments, invoke agents, and generate content without context-switching.
Opal in Slack
Section titled “Opal in Slack”Optimizely Opal is available as a verified application in the Slack Marketplace.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”- Full Opal Chat functionality including content creation, research, and automation
- Visual content creation (image analysis, generation, and editing)
- Agent invocation via @IDs from the Home tab
- File uploads and document collaboration
- Mobile access across Slack phone and tablet apps
Install and configure
Section titled “Install and configure”- Click Add to Slack from the Opal integration page
- Enter your workspace information and grant permissions
- In Slack, navigate to Apps > Optimizely - Opal > Home tab
- Click Login with Optimizely and authenticate
- Select your organization from the dropdown
- Click Close to complete setup
Switch organizations
Section titled “Switch organizations”Click Change Organization on the Home tab to switch between organizations or product instances.
View conversation history
Section titled “View conversation history”- In Slack: The History tab displays all conversations as threads
- In Opal app: Navigate to home.optimizely.com > Opal > Chat to see recent conversations
- Conversations persist across desktop and mobile Slack apps
Opal in Microsoft Copilot
Section titled “Opal in Microsoft Copilot”Install
Section titled “Install”- Open the Agent Store in Microsoft Copilot
- Search for Opal
- Select Optimizely Opal and review permissions
- Click Add
- Log in with your Optimizely credentials on first use

Note: Copilot displays text links to images rather than inline previews. Click URLs to view generated images.
Conversation history
Section titled “Conversation history”Conversations in Copilot are preserved in the Chats section grouped by date. History includes all installed agents, not exclusively Opal. Conversations started in Copilot do not automatically sync to the Opal app.
Opal in Google Gemini Enterprise
Section titled “Opal in Google Gemini Enterprise”Opal integrates with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise using the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol for structured message exchange between AI agents.

Section titled “Capabilities”- Vendor interoperability: Connect Opal to third-party agents implementing A2A without custom tool integrations
- Multi-agent workflows: Orchestrate tasks across Opal and external agents
- Security boundaries: Protocol-level authentication with scoped credentials
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- Gemini Enterprise access with A2A enabled (contact your administrator)
- Opal permissions to configure agents and workflows
- Partner agent authentication credentials (tokens or service accounts)
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”Install Opal from Google’s Agents gallery or directly through the Opal agent finder in Gemini Enterprise.
